Gulzar's ANGOOR, based upon William Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors" is a laugh-a -minute riot that does full justice to the bard's tale. Raj Tilak and his wife are on a trip with their twins sons whom they call Ashok. Since they look the same they should be called the same is Mr Tilak's reasoning. As fate would have it, they adopt another set of twins whom they call Bahadur. Why? They look the same too so no need to call them by different names. An unfortunate accident will soon divide this extended family with each parent having one child each.

Forward a few years later Ashok (Sanjeev Kumar) is married to Sudha (Moshumi) and Bahadur (Deven Verma) is married to Prema (Aruna Irani). They and Sudha's sister Tanu (Deepti Naval) all stay together. Into their lives and that of all the city folk enter the other Ashok, a detective novel offender, and Bahadur, a bhang lover. Now there are two Ashok's and Bahadurs in the same city which is more than what their family, the Inspector, Jeweler, Taxi Driver and themselves can handle. With this movie Gulzar displays his masterly craft at situational comedies. In this movie it is very obvious why the late Sanjeev Kumar was considered by many to be the most complete Indian actor.

A wealthy industrialist and business man named Raj Singhania lives in Bombay, India. He reaches up with a music band in which Karan Malhotra is the leader and Priya is his right-hand and sweetheart. Karan finds that it is not easy to achieve one's merit. A contract made between the two for his band to sing on a crusade for Raj. He agrees to do so and later on conspire with his ********** Priya to take over Raj vast estate by setting up his ********** to marry Raj fakely. On a chance encounter one day Raj and Priya both meet, where by Raj fall head over heals in love with Priya. And later on they both got engaged. Raj carry Priya and introduce her to his entire family where a date for the marriage between the two is set. And later on finalized. On his wedding night Priya speaks to Raj about she must remain a virgin until one month and he agrees to do so, unknown to him that it is a conspiracy by Karan and Priya. After a few days Priya decides to break plans with Karan releasing what is husband and wife which leads to the destruction of both Raj and Priya by Karan. But, after learning the truth between Karan and Priya, Raj and Karan had a scuffle which leads to the death of Karan and unite the married couple for years to come

Anuranan is the directorial debut by Bengali film-maker Aniruddha Anuranan (meaning "resonance" in Bengali) explores the relationships of two married couples. The story explores the impacts and consequences of their relationships. In addition to showing how distinctly different two marriages can be, the title of the movie and subsequently the story convey the fact that people can form relationships that extend beyond just them being acquaintances, and yet remain purely platonic.

The story of two couples - each with their own struggles to survive as a couple and as individuals. After living in London for a few years, Rahul and Nandita have recently moved back to Kolkata and become friends with Amit and Preeti. It is the lives of these four friends that creates a resonance, a chord, that echoes through their present and future.

Rahul Bose stars as a creative and sensitive individual, who during the course of his life arrives in a lonely hill station in Sikkim to help build a new holiday resort. The friendship between the two couples, Rahul and Nandita and Amit and Preeti paves the way for a deeper bond between Rahul and Preeti. This "Anuranan" between the two is, towards the end of the movie, misunderstood by society in general including Amit. However, the fact that the love between Rahul and Nandita is pure, does not let the latter fall prey to the rumour mills.The film was shot on location in India and the UK and director Aniruddha Roy-Chowdhury describes the amazing scenery of the hill station in the mountains.

Karan (Alok Nath) lives in a small house with his only daughter, Suman (Bhagyashree). He decides to travel overseas in Dubai, in the Persian Gulf, so that he can accumulate enough wealth to get his daughter married. He decides to leave his daughter with his friend, Kishen Kumar choudhury (Rajiv Verma), wife Mrs. Kaushalya (Reema Lagoo), and son Prem (Salman Khan). Prem is supposed to marry Seema (Pervin Dastur), who is the only daughter of Kishen's business partner, Ranjeet (Ajit Vachani). But Prem falls in love with Suman. He woos her until she also falls in love with him. Kaushalya approves of Suman, but Kishan does not, and asks her to get out of his house and life, as he feels that she has taken advantage of his hospitality. Karan returns and is enraged at Kishan's behaviour. Prem is unhappy with his dad's decision, and he decides to leave home and be near Suman. But Karan does not approve of Prem, and will not let him come anywhere near Suman. Prem will now have to prove himself to Karan, that he is not the same as his dad, and is worthy of Suman's love.

Plot Summary
A young Bangladeshi woman, Nazneem, arrives in London, leaving behind her beloved sister and home, for an arranged marriage and a new life. Trapped within the four walls of her flat in East London, and in a loveless marriage with the middle aged Chanu, she fears her soul is quietly dying.

Her sister Hasina, meanwhile, continues to live a carefree life back in Bangladesh, stumbling from one adventure to the next. Nazneen struggles to accept her lifestyle, and keeps her head down in spite of life's blows, but she soon discovers that life cannot be avoided - and is forced to confront it the day that the hotheaded young Karim comes knocking at her door.

Movie Review
This is a masterpiece of the first rank, as if Satyajit Ray had come back from the dead to do one final great work, and yet the director is a young English girl named Sarah Gavron, who will obviously go from triumph to triumph in the future. The film, the director, the script writer, the cinematographer, the editor, and the superb musical score all deserve Oscars. But most of all, so do Tannishtha Chatterjee as Best Actress and Satish Kaushik who plays her husband as Best Actor.

This is one of the most devastatingly tragic and emotional films in years. My wife and I saw it in a private screening tonight, and most people were in tears. Sarah Gavron and Monica Ali the novelist both spoke about the crazy media coverage. The film has been covered by the papers in a dishonest fashion, so alarming that Prince Charles pulled out of attending the premiere.

This film is the story of a woman trapped in her life, trapped in her culture, and trapped in an arranged marriage. In the beginning her husband seems to be something of monster, but by the end of the film we see that despite all of his failings, he is a truly noble character. The incredible irony is that Tannishtha Chatterjee, who by her astonishing ability and delicate sensitivity has done more to explain Muslim women to us than anyone I can think of, is herself a Hindu from West Bengal. When I told Monica Ali afterwards that this film would do more for cross-cultural understanding than anything else, she was pleased but looked doubtful.

After all, the lives of the people making the film were threatened by a small minority of fanatics ('five men in a sweet shop in Brick Lane' was how it started, growing to seventy malcontents) when they were filming on location in London, and there is a false and hypocritical media storm raging around the film at the moment. It makes a good cheap headline. But we need to forget about all of that and concentrate on what this film really is: a human document of such raw honesty and true feeling that it is like a cry from the hearts of all who have suffered at any time and in any place in our troubled world. People talk about 'understanding', but how are we to achieve it? By making and viewing such films as this, I would suggest. And then there is the endless problem of women being oppressed. If you are not a woman and want to know what that is like, just watch this. The saddest thing of all is the collapse of dreams, and the story is about how the different characters bear the respective collapses of their most cherished ones and try to go on, and do.
